  • Albert Lea Tigers Coed Soccer Camp

    Coed Soccer Camp Grades 3rd-12th This is a soccer camp is designed for players of all levels who want to learn and improve their fundamental soccer skills in a fun and encouraging environment. Players are given the opportunity to receive individual instruction from Albert Lea High School’s varsity coaching staff. Each day is filled with a variety of activities to promote correct soccer technique including: small-sided games to encourage personal involvement and enhance the understanding of team concepts; technical and ball mastery skills sessions; shooting drills; and open field scrimmages. Register by Saturday, June 15th to receive a branded aluminum water bottle!
  • Audio & Video Production

    This course builds on the Videography course from the summer of 2023. The class will produce and publish YouTube videos and podcasts. The creative and production process will be learned by all students whether they choose to be in front of the camera and microphone or behind the scenes. This course will produce both live and recorded productions. Classes will meet on posted dates and have other events scheduled as needed. This course is FREE to Albert Lea School district students grades 6th-12th and is made possible through a federal grant.
  • Band Lessons

    Don’t leave those instruments in the closet all summer! Come for individual attention on your instrument. You will receive four 30-minute lessons. Students not enrolled in the band program need to have their instrument choice approved. ***Time shown on class this registration page is NOT 8:30am-2:30pm. Indicate your preferred time of day after clicking "Enroll Now" and the instructor will contact you with a specific time slot. Time slots available are 8:30-10:30am, 10:30-12:30pm and 12:30-2:30pm NO CLASS WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19TH IN OBSERVATION OF JUNETEENTH. LAST DAY OF CLASS IS THURSDAY, JUNE 20TH.
  • Card Creations

    Students will have the opportunity to make 4 types of greeting cards including Birthday, Thank You, Congratulations and Thinking of You. Students are invited to bring their own papers an embellishments, but it is not required. Come create some personalized greeting cards and have fun!
  • Coed Youth Basketball Camp

    Coed Basketball Camp for Grades 3rd-8th Campers will learn a variety of skills taught by the Albert Lea head boys and girls basketball coaches and assisted by the varsity boys basketball team. Each camper will practice basketball skills and learn drills to do with teammates and on their own. We will also have competitions throughout the duration of the week and prizes will be awarded on our last day of camp.
  • Coed Youth Volleyball Camp

    Coed camp for incoming 3rd-7th grade students. Come join Albert Lea Volleyball Coaching Staff and High School players for youth camp. Campers will dive into the fundamentals of passing, serving, and attacking through engaging drills and activities designed for their age group. Whether your child is brand new to the sport or looking to refine their skills, our camp provides a supportive and fun environment where every participant can learn and grow!
  • Cross Country Camp

    This Cross Country Camp is for beginner runners who would like to know more about running. Topics discussed are; What is Cross Country?, Preparation for running, equipment for running, safety and running. Each day runners will be running 1-2 miles. The class will meet rain or shine.
  • Dance Team Skills and Conditioning Camp

    These sessions are for dancers interested in dance team conditioning. We will be focusing on strength, endurance, flexibility, form, and technique as well as specific skill work. Please have cross trainers, dance shoes and bring a water bottle to camp each day. No class June 19, 26 or 27, July 4-6.
  • Elevate Your Game - Yoga For Athletes

    This is an eight-part course for athletes, coaches, and anyone who wants a deeper understanding of how movement impacts life. Rooted in science with practical application for athletes to strengthen their performance in sport and life through warm-up, cross-training, breathwork and lymphatics, myofascial release, active range of motion, passive range of motion, active and passive recovery classes. These classes will give general tools for all athletes at all levels. Athletes will break into groups based on their specific sport and work on their unique needs. Enough props are provided to meet each athlete where they are in their body and range of motion. You DO NOT NEED TO BE 'FLEXIBLE' for this class. Give yoga 60 minutes, twice a week, for four weeks, and level up your confidence, attitude, and performance. July 10th session time will be from 10:00-11:30am. Financial assistance may be available.   • Game on! Open Field at the Gus for All Sports

    The Hammer Complex turf and track will be accessible to all students from grades 7 to 12 for all sports. Students are required to bring their own equipment, and locker rooms will be available on a limited basis. Preregistration is mandatory for waiver purposes. Feel free to register at any time! You can attend for one day or join us for the entire summer. No open field on June 19, June 30 or July 3.
  • Gustavus Volleyball Camp

    For students entering into grades 5th-12th. Gustavus Volleyball coaches and players offer advanced position-specific and general skills training and competitive team drills and games to help athletes improve and take their game to the next level. The camp is structured much like their college practices. COACH BIOS Rachelle Sherden completed her 14th season as head coach of the Gustavus Adolphus College volleyball team in 2023. The Gusties concluded the season as MIAC regular season and playoff champions and secured another trip to the NCAA tournament where the team finished Top 32 in the country. In 14 seasons, Sherden guided the Gusties to 9 MIAC playoff berths and 7 NCAA tournaments berths, Sherden has received MIAC Coach of the Year honors four times in her career ('15, '18, '22, and '23) and AVCA Central Region Coach of the Year honors two times. Alyssa Taylor serves as associate head coach for the Gusties and has been on staff since 2018. In 2023 she helped the Gusties earn MIAC regular season and playoff championships and secure another trip tp the NCAA Tournament where the team finished Top 32 in the country. Taylor, a 2015 Gustavus graduate, returned to her alma mater after spending two years with the University of South Carolina Volleyball programs.     Kick-Off Band Lessons

    Students entering 6th grade and registered for band are invited to participate in kick-off lessons. During these 30-minute lessons, students will receive instruction on techniques specific to their instrument in small groups. They will learn how to hold the instrument, create sound and begin playing notes. Participating in these lessons allows students to begin the school year with confidence and progress much more quickly in class. Students must have their instrument choice approved by the middle school director to sign up. All students need an instrument that is in good working order and a Sound Innovations Book One for their instrument prior to the start of lessons. Music Mart in Mankato or Rochester is recommended for renting or purchasing instruments. Please contact the instructor with any questions. Time slots may switch due to instrument interest levels. During these lessons, students will receive instruction on techniques specific to their instrument in small groups. Learn how to hold the instrument, create sound and begin playing notes. These lessons have helped students start the year with confidence and helped the class progress much more quickly. Just imagine, students will be able to begin the school year reading notes, rhythms and playing music! All students need an instrument that is in good working order and String Basics for their instrument prior to the start of lessons. Music Mart in Mankato or Rochester is a recommended source for these items. Please contact the instructor with questions. You will be asked which time slot you prefer during registration.     Kids Sewing & Fashion Design

    Beginner/Intermediate Level Sewing Experience This class is perfect for kids who've dabbled in sewing or know the ropes, whether it's with a machine, by hand, or even with knitting or crochet. It's all about diving into creativity with a bunch of cool Fashion Design and Sewing Projects. Advanced students? They're totally welcome too! They'll get some next-level techniques for their projects. Each kiddo gets to pick 4-5 projects plus we'll do a group one. And guess what? At the end of the week, we'll strut our stuff in a Fashion Show.   • Kings of the Courts - Boys Tennis Lessons

    Tennis lessons for boys entering into grades 4th-9th - JOIN ANYTIME! Each 50-minute lesson will be customized to the skill level of the boys participating. Throughout the sessions, players will enhance their skills in various aspects, including Singles and Doubles match play, serving, forehand/backhand techniques, volleys, overheads, and lobs. To encourage boys to experience tennis, Coach Chalmers will provide three 3-week sessions with 6 lessons total. Players have the option to sign up for multiple sessions either at the beginning or as they progress. Lessons will be held that the Albert Lea High School Tennis Courts and parents will be contacted by Coach Chalmers to arrange schedules. Players are required to bring their own racket. If you are unable to provide your own racket, please reach out to Coach Chalmers at neil.chalmers@alschools.org. Three session dates are available and listed below.     For students in grades K-5th. Step into a world of vibrant creativity with crafts tailored for K-5th graders! Let your child's imagination soar as they craft their own Beaded Rainbow Suncatcher, casting prisms of color that dance with the sunlight. Paint a Pet Rock and create Tic Tac Toe board where kids transform ordinary rocks into game pieces. Explore the cosmos with Star String Art, where each twinkle and twist of string creates a cosmic masterpiece. Join the fun for one day or all three!   • Model Rocketry Camp

    This course is FREE to Albert Lea School district students and is made possible through a federal grant. Have some fun this summer learning to build your own model rocket! Whether you are a beginner or have some experience, there is a rocket class for you! These classes are for 2nd grade and older. Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert classes, the class price includes one reusable rocket and one engine. Expert class must supply their own challenging kit and engines. Contact Ken Fiscus (ken.fiscus@alschools.org) with questions about your chosen rocket kit. THURSDAY LAUNCH DAY: a parent MUST attend launch day on Thursday, August 9th at Southwest Middle School. Two launch times are scheduled for 8:00am and 7:00pm. Individual Class Descriptions Basic Model Rocketry This is an introduction to the exciting hobby of model rocketry. We will discuss model construction, safety and build a Viking rocket to launch on launch day. Class fee includes one reusable rocket and one engine. Intermediate Model Rocketry Build on the skills you learned in Basic Model Rocketry. Construct an Alpha rocket and launch it. Class fee includes one reusable rocket and one engine. Advanced Model Rocketry Take what you learn in Intermediate Model Rocketry and add to it. Each student will build a challenging Olympus rocket to launch. Class fee includes one reusable rocket and one engine. Expert Model Rocketry Boost your rocketry skills further in this expert level class.   • Tiger Pride Youth Football Summer Camp

    Tiger Pride Youth Football Camp is open to youth entering grades 3-12. Camp will focus on basic football skills from all positions and making football fun. Each participant will be provided a camp t-shirt and a sports drink/water daily. Each session will end with a game of ultimate football. Following their camp session on Wednesday, athletes will be provided with a meal, courtesy of the Tiger Football Boosters. Students should wear a t-shirt, shorts and tennis shoes or cleats to attend camp. There will be a Punt, Pass and Kick Competition in the youth and middle school camps, with awards presented at halftime of the first varsity home game. Whether your goal is to sharpen your shooting, improve your dribbling, or enhance your defensive skills, this program is designed to help you reach new heights on the court. Our training sessions will take place in a supportive and encouraging environment, where athletes can push their limits and build confidence in their abilities.   • Youth Tennis Camp

    Lead by ALHS Tennis Coaches, at tennis camp we will work on age appropriate tennis skills, such as learning hand-eye coordination, footwork, forehand, backhand, serve, and volley. The court and tennis ball will be modified to teach young tennis players age appropriate tennis skills. If you have a racket bring it, otherwise a racket and tennis balls will be provided. Be sure to wear sunscreen and bring water. Recommended tennis racket size by age: 5-8 years size 23”, 9-10 years 23”-25”, 11 years size 25”-27”. A July session has been added since the printing of the Community Ed Summer Book. See details on enrollment options.
