The ALDT Middle School Dance Program is a fun opportunity for students in grades 5–7 to experience what it’s like to be on a high school dance team! This course provides middle school dancers with an introduction to dance team style, including practice structure, kick technique, dance skills used on a high school dance team, and performance skills—all to help prepare them for participation on a junior varsity dance team. No prior dance experience is necessary to participate.
Practice Schedule:
Dancers will learn a high-kick routine to perform at halftime of both the January 20, 2026 boys basketball game and the January 27, 2026 girls basketball game. The course will conclude with a final performance at the Albert Lea Dance Team Showcase on January 31, 2026.
The course fee includes a performance t-shirt and 31 hours of instruction by a former ALDT dancer. Dancers will need to provide their own black leggings and Bloch Pulse black jazz shoes (LINK).
Participants should bring a water bottle and wear comfortable activewear and gym shoes to every practice. For performances, dancers should wear their black leggings, performance t-shirt, and Bloch black jazz shoes.
With over 15 years of dance experience, including five years on the Albert Lea Dance Team, the instructor brings both skill and passion to the studio. She has coached with Just for Kix for five years, working with dancers ages 3–18 in lyrical, kick, contemporary, jazz, and hip hop styles.
Her love for dance stems from its ability to inspire self-expression, connection, and personal growth. She hopes to help young dancers build friendships, gain confidence, and discover their own voice through movement.
